Lessons from To Kill A Mockingbird

During this preparation week, we talked with Dr.McCabe and also went to see To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway. In our interview with Dr.McCabe, I learned a bunch of things but a specific topic that stuck with me was the concept of gangs. Some people ignore the fact that gangs have been in this country even before the Civil War.  Belonging in a gang shows how there's a desire that people have to belong to a group. But now since a larger number of gang members are African American, its a issue. The following day we went to see To Kill a Mockingbird. While watching the play on Broadway I recognized the differences between the novel and this new stage play. The play started with the trail of Tom Robinson and I got to see up close what it meant to be a black man during the era of Jim Crow laws.
