Mourning the Victims of Lynching

We went to the “The National Memorial for Peace and Justice” (on Saturday, May 11) and seeing the names of hundreds of people who were lynched stirred fear and anger in me. One column specifically was dedicated to those who were lynched in Montgomery County, Alabama. I was present in Montgomery County at the moment! I was struck to see approximately 20 names listed in it and about five people listed in the column were named “Unknown”. It goes to show that we should still remember them because every life matters. I don’t appreciate the horrific history that America had to go through and I pray that we learn from it so it doesn’t repeat itself.
